It's raining Cats and Dogs
Most homes had thatched roofs in which domestic animals such as cats and dogs would like to hide. In heavy rain, the animals would either be washed out of the thatch, or rapidly abandon it for better shelter, so it would seem to be raining cats and dogs.

Happy Halloween Trivia
My favorite holiday of the entire year so here we go....
Jack o’ lanterns originated in Ireland where people placed candles in hollowed-out turnips to keep away spirits and ghosts on the Samhain holiday.
The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts roamed the countryside on Halloween night. They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being recognized as human

Daily Trivia October 30
Here is some daily trivia for you....As I was recently driving by the birthplace of Stonewall Jackson we got to talking in the car about "Stonewalling" someone. I figured it was for him but I wanted to check
To block someone's progress. From the nickname Confederate general "Stonewall" Jackson obtained at the battle of Bull Run. The troops said his men were holding back the Union army like a stone wall. Hence Stonewall Jackson. So to stonewall means to delay and generally block someone

Tropical Rainforests produce 40% of the Earth's oxygen
One quarter of the medicines that we use come from Rain Forests.

Stitches on a Baseball
Since it is Baseball Fever time and I am watching game 4 of the world series right now...I figured a few good baseball questions were in order.
There are 108 double stitches on a baseball (which some people call 216 stitches). The first and last stitches are completely hidden. They are sewn by hand, using 88 inches of waxed red thread.
Never know when that is going to show up in Trivial Pursuit.
